HONDA HEADS TO NEC

The all new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade will have its debut UK appearance on Press Day, 13 November, at the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC, Birmingham

Honda will reveal its 2004 motorcycle line-up at the forthcoming International Motorcycle & Scooter Show at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (14-23 November) with the star of the show undoubtedly the all-new 1000cc Fireblade.

The Fireblade shook the supersport motorcycle market to its roots when it was originally launched in 1992 with a combination of ultra light weight, phenomenal power and pin sharp handling.

The 2004 version continues the Fireblade tradition with a bigger, more powerful engine and the very latest motorcycle racing technology such as a revolutionary new steering damper taken directly from Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP-winning Honda RCV211V.

Also on display at the NEC will be a new, all-rounder, middleweight Honda designed to appeal to riders of all shapes and sizes, from novice to expert. The CBF600 will be available in naked and half-faired version with the option of ABS brakes.

However, before the customer takes delivery of his or her chosen option, their Honda dealer will set the three-way adjustable seat and adjustable handlebars for the optimum fit and rider comfort – Honda’s ‘Just-Fit’ system.

Also in the CBF range for 2004 are a new CBF500 for novice riders or those wishing to make the step up from scooters and smaller bikes, and the CBF250 aimed at the commuting sector of the market.

Honda will also show the latest version of its best-selling CG125 and a new, four-stroke sports bike – the CBR125R – influenced heavily by the dominant CBR600RR supersport machine and sure to appeal to future racing champions.

For those looking for adventure away from the tarmac, Honda’s 2004 XL1000V Varadero benefits from ABS to add to its clever dual combined braking system and a new CRF250 four-stroke machine will be available for motocross competition (CRF250R) and, with electric start, for trail and enduro riding (CRF250X).

Honda’s new models underline the company’s ongoing efforts to minimise harmful exhaust emissions across its entire product range and the continuation of safety development, with its Dual Combined Brake System and ABS now available on more motorcycles in the 2004 range.

"It’s an exciting time for us," explains Mark Davies, general manager of Honda (UK)’s motorcycle division. "As the world leader in the motorcycle market we bear a great deal of responsibility, but our R&D programmes in ease of use, emissions reduction and safety really are beginning to shift the way people think about motorcycles.

"But, of course, riding bikes is about sheer enjoyment," he adds, "and as our customers will see with the 2004 line-up at the NEC, above all, we will always make sure our products are about having fun!"
